Patriot Plaza at Sarasota National Cemetery Impressive For VA
Amid all the recent negative publicity around the VA it’s nice to report some good news about the nation’s Veterans Affairs Administration happening right in the neighborhood around The Forest.
The new Patriot Plaza at the Sarasota National Cemetery had it’s grand opening dedication recently. It was well deserved recognition for this very impressive facility built to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. One of just 131 national cemeteries, we believe it may be the nation’s best and certainly one of the most unique.
Patriot Plaza is the amphitheater located in the heart of the expansive cemetery on Clark Road (S.R. 72) just a few miles west of The Forest. This beautiful amphitheater facility has covered seating for 2,800 people along with a large rostrum that can accommodate a 55-piece orchestra. It is surrounded by 48,000 square feet of gathering areas and walkways along with several areas featuring public art displays.
Patriot Plaza was designed, built and donated by The Patterson Foundation in partnership with the National Cemetery Administration. The June 28 dedication event is the first of what is anticipated to be many events at the facility. But it is also a place for quiet reflection and remembrance enhanced by a nod to Sarasota’s growing reputation for public art and great venues. The Plaza features permanent art installations crafted by nationally and internationally renowned artists.
Make time for a visit to the National Cemetery and Patriot Plaza. It is an absolutely beautiful place, moving experience and a fitting tribute to all veterans. Learn more about it at The Patterson Foundation website. See video of the dedication event on the Bradenton Herald website.
